JDRF
(a great organization!)
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1970 by parents of children with Type1 diabetes. Annually it funds more than $100 million in diabetes research, in more than 20 countries. The Indiana Chapter is responsible for raising more than $4 million dollars annually through its various fund raising events.
JDRF has a singular mission: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research as soon as possible. Because of this mission, JDRF has become the leader in research into a cure for Type 1 diabetes and its complications. It is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. More than 80% of their expenditures directly support support research and research-related education.
There are an estimated 3 million people with Type 1 diabetes in the U.S., with over 7,000 in Indiana alone. Every hour someone is diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, the most severe form of diabetes. It takes a harsh toll on people as insulin is a life support, not a cure. There are ever present devastating life-limiting and life-shortening complications for a Type1 diabetic. This disease is destructive both to children and their childhood. Controlling this disease demands 24/7/365 vigilance and a grueling regimen that includes living by the clock, day and night, for the rest of their lives. And these lives turn out to average about 15 years less than a normal life.
You can't outgrow Type 1 diabetes. The only solution is a cure.

From our family to you, thank you.
